Camp Ehi Passiko '06

What a memorable 4 days it has been.
The first day saw the kids trooping onto the bus and off to the camp. Located somewhere in the extreme west of SG, the (festive?) journey pilgrimage to Camp Christine was tempered by my own tentativeness and uncertainty. Despite the assurances given by Laura, I was, nonetheless a n00b amongst the seasoned community that was SBMY and the established hierarchy.

Was given a warm welcome by Shixiong and Alvin, both of whom I'd met just thrice previously. Ditto too Yongting, Ryan Melon (my namesake), Bertina, Lindy, Hongli, Ang Hwee, Lokwe, Zhunzing, Zhipeng, Auntie 1, Auntie 2, Liwei, the R Ah team, the Sariputtians and the list goes on.

Looking at the happy faces of the campers, and the untiring efforts of the GLs at getting their members to be an active part of the proceedings, it was indeed a heartening experience. I'd have enough of sticking around Laura and soon felt comfortable enough in my own skin to wander around sticking my nose in other affairs.

The memories:

The mud and the campers
The night ranges
The water transport
The decapitated frogs
The water bombs
The lizards on the sticky tape
The dedication by the organizers
The zeal of the campers (*Forrester! Forrester! Forrester!*)
The Nam Thong Mai Ra and their charismatic Mr Le Kwong Minh

And most importantly

The campfire
